German Embassy To Support Slum Entrepreneurship In Delhi

The Embassy of Germany in New Delhi announced that they will support the ‘Slum Women Entrepreneurship Development Project (SWED)’ in Khajuri Khas (Khajoori Khas), a place located in the national capital of India.

Two members of the German Embassy team were present during the inauguration of the training unit of SWED. It held on 7th August 2015, Friday.

The unit will provide encouragement and basic know-how, to start and manage their startups, to the interest women. It will be done in collaboration with the Dhriiti organization which will enable the women entrepreneurs to stay in the long run by building the required entrepreneurial, financial, and other important and specific skills of their interests.

Recently, the Embassy of Germany came forward to fund a 1kWP solar power system as well as technical facilities like computers and projects to help them in having long-distance training sessions and other audio-visual programs.

Though the training unit is setup recently, but a group of five women has already taken the training and were conferred the certificates. Their next step is to  start their own jeans enterprise, there itself to open employments for the local people soon.

Right after the event, the attendee women were given the chance to register themselves for the very next training session in which the participants will be filled with inspiration and required skills to start any of the businesses as per their interest.

The main interest of this project lies in the enhancement of the employment possibilities and to boost the women’s income in Khajuri Khas.

Annually, the German Embassy New Delhi and the German Consulates come forward to fund and support small scale, but independent projects to help the underprivileged groups of society.
