The latest release of Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan and Irrfan Khan has garnered lots of positive reviews from critics, and the movie watchers were convinced by the screenplay and script of Piku. Bollywood critics such as Taran Adarsh, Komal Nahta and Rajeev have rated it 4 out of 5 stars (on an average of the threes’ ratings). Despite of getting strong response, the movie failed at the box office on its 1st day run. It has only collected Rs 5.32 Crores on Friday.
However, critics believe that the movie will pick up on its 2nd day. Taran Adrash tweeted about the first day collection report and provided assurance that it will surely peak:-
#Piku witnessed ample growth from evening shows onwards. Fri ₹ 5.32 cr. India biz. Expect further jump in biz today [Sat]. ~ Taran Adarsh
The movie had more expectations looking after its star-cast and critics’ word of mouth. But it actually has disappointed the producers and director. This is happening because it could not generate the required buzz prior to its release around the B-Town with its songs and promos. ‘Piku’ is not an entertainer flick, it is a complete drama based picture. Other than documentaries and biopics, people hate/dislike watching drama movies.
Read the Piku Review. And decide to watch it or not. If you feel we have over exercised its simplicity and melodrama, you can go and read others’ reviews.
Talking about ‘Piku’ 2nd day collections. It has managed to earn Rs 6.2 crores, Rs 1 Crores (round-off figures) more than its previous day.
Leaving everyone impressed with its story and acting work. The movie and reviews have induced people to go for ‘Piku’ rather than ‘Kuch Kuch Locha Hai’ this weekend. For sure, the earnings will see an exponential growth in its overall business on Sunday. It is even essential for the movie to collect an ample amount of money to feed the pockets of producers.
The last questions is the Sunday! Let us see how the movie performs. Catch more of Bollywood at SHAupdates. Stay tuned for more B-Town updates.
