Naveen Patnaik, Chief Minister of Orissa for the fourth Term

After getting an awesome success in the assembly polls 2014, Naveen Patnaik has became the Chief Minister of Orissa for the record consecutive 4th time. Today, he took oath as the only politician in the state for becoming a CM for the fourth term.

There was a lot of predictions which took place. All naysayers were hoping for a very hard challenge from the candidates of Congress and BJP during the polls 2014. But, Naveen (67) in a soft blow blew away every one and won with a big margin. He won a total of 117 seats out of 147. He broke his own record of winning 103 seats in the year 2009.

As of now, JB Patnaik has become thrice the CM of this state. He is from Congress while the father of Naveen, Biju Patnaik has tasted the taste of CM chair only two times.

There was a beautiful function in the Raj Bhawan, today. Naveen took oath in this function. There were many dignities were present in the oath taking ceremony namely Governor SC Jamir with a team of 21 ministers of state.

The name of 11 cabinet ministers of Orissa are as follows.

  1. Dr Damodar Rout,
  2. Debi Prasad Mishra,
  3. Pradip Kumar Amat,
  4. Bijayshree Routray,
  5. Badri Narayan Patra,
  6. Bikram Keshari Arukh,
  7. Lal Behari Himirika,
  8. Pradip Maharathi,
  9. Usha Devi,
  10. Puspendra Singhdeo and
  11. Jogendra Behera.

The ten ministers are as follows.

  1. Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak,
  2. Arun Kumar Sahu,
  3. Ashok Kumar Panda,
  4. Sanjay Dasburma,
  5. Sudam Marandi,
  6. Pradip Panigrahi,
  7. Ramesh Chandra Majhi,
  8. Prafulla Mallick,
  9. Pranab Prakash Das and
  10. Snehangini Chhuria.

However, portfolios have not been decided yet.

Ministers like Debi Prasad Mishra, Damodar Rout, Bikram Keshari Arukh, Bijoyshree Routray, Arun Sahu, Usha Devi, Badri Patra were in the previous ministry. The major changes are Surya Patro and Bijay Ranjan Bariha. They have been omitted this time.

Seven state ministers are for the first time. Still, there is an exception of Atnu Sabyasachi Nayak, Arun Sahu and Ramesh Majhi.

Not as previously, this time only one royal family member is there in the state ministry – Usha Devi who was elected from Chikiti in Ganjam district.

As soon as the swearing was completed, Naveen Patnaik (the Chief Minister of Orissa) went to the State Secretariat where he was warmly welcomed. “We have to keep on working for the development of the state,” said Naveen, who addressed over 160 meeting during this election, almost double of what he addressed last time.

Although Naveen tried to balance his work regionally but districts like Balasore, Malkangiri, Sundargarh and Sambalpur unrepresented. Of the 22 ministers, 10 are from coastal districts of undivided Cuttack, Balasore and Ganjam and Puri.

This time there are two women who got elected – Usha Devi and Snehanini Chhuria, who is here for the first time.

There is a lot of buzz the Naveen may decide to make Pramila Mallick as the Speaker of the Assembly. Pramila has been a minister in the last cabinet. He wants to do so to pay tribute to women voters backing him.Mallick, a Dalit, who represents Binjharpur in Jajpur district, would be the first woman to become Speaker
