The latest dance directorial venture of Remo D’Souza released on Friday. The sequel of Any Body Can Dance, ABCD 2 starring Varun Dhawan and Shraddha Kapoor in lead roles garnered mixed reviews, but a superb opening collection at the box office.
Two of nation’s heartthrob Remo and Varun along with Shraddha proved to be successful in bringing audiences to theatres. It took the box office by storm.
It seems that Remo has taken up all the risk of introducing dance genre films in India by himself.
Only the official report is awaited to prove that ABCD 2 got highest first day box office collection of the year. This can be concluded with the morning and afternoon occupancy reports from all across the country.
It got the highest occupancy of 2015 as Box Office India stated. It is reported that it experienced more than 50% occupancy in the morning shows, more that Akshay’s Gabbar Is Back and Kangana’s Tanu Weds Manu Returns.
Majorly, it has been successful in mass areas of northern India like Delhi-NCR, Gujarat and Jaipur. Whereas in Mumbai, it couldn’t have expected occupancy due to the rain and water logging.
“#SOTY, #MainTeraHero, #HSKD, #Badlapur [all Hits], #ABCD2 [Terrific start], Varun Dhawan cements his status as a consistently bankable star,” trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted.
As other regions, it also raked in good amount from the Gulf region. It earned around 86 lakh INR as the 1st day collection.
“#ABCD2 has a SUPER-STRONG start in India… Has a FAB start in UAE-GCC too. Collects AED 496,000 [₹ 86.16 lacs] on Thu,” Adarsh added.
Coming to the highest two grosser of 2015, “Gabbar Is Back” and “Tanu Weds Manu Returns”. The Akshay Kumar store opened with an average occupancy of 40% and earned over 13 crores INR on day 1. Thus, held the record of the highest earner of 2015 until now.
On the other hand, Kangana Ranaut starer movie started with 35-40% occupancy and hold the record of the highest grosser of the year.
Going by the trend, the latest release “ABCD 2” will break the record of highest first day box office collection, which is currently held by “Gabbar Is Back”.
Along with Remo, the star cast of the film features Dharmesh Yelande, Raghav Juyal, Punit Pathank, Prabhu Deva, Lauren Gottlieb and Tisca Chopra.
