Aamir Khan, better known as Bollywood’s Mr. perfectionist, has stated in an interview with a magazine that Mallika Sherawat auditioned for ‘Dangal’ to play his wife’s role.
“The casting is still going on for the film. She is a wonderful actress… She contacted our casting director, auditioned for a role. We are concentrating on getting cast for the younger version that is – 12-14 years for Geeta and Babita (Mahavir’s daughters and women wrestling champs),” the 50-years-old actor quoted in an interview.
“Once this integral part of casting is done we will focus on my wife’s part and then there is another interesting character of my nephew,” the actor added.
In the early days of shooting, Aamir had faced troubles in choosing the right faces for his daughters’ roles.
Few actresses were on the hit-list of director such as Kangana Ranaut, Tapsee Pannnu, Urvashi Rautela and all recent rising female celebrities. But in the end, the roles offered to Fatima Shaikh and Sanya Malhotra. In a report, Aamir had likely to have auditioned 21,000 girls and sorted out these two.
“We auditioned a lot of girls and have finalised Fatima Shaikh and Sanya Malhotra. We tested them and they are very good. These two young girls are very talented. These girls are training in wrestling,” Aamir verbally expressed.
According to sources, Fatima belongs to Mumbai, previously featured in several movies in small roles and also a TV celebrity. On the other hand, Sanya is a Delhitian girl, who worked as a ballet dancer.
The film is a satire of wrestler Mahavir Singh’s life story, reporting the ups-downs of his life. Moreover, Singh’s two daughters have been featured to an extent. It will hit theaters in September, 2015.
