A Delhi court has ordered to stop the release of Sunny Deol starrer Mohalla Assi across the country. This step is enforced due to the protests in Varansi and some other parts of Uttar Pradesh because of the presence of some objectionable content present in the movie. The protests arose after the release of its trailer on the web.
A tweet from PTI read:

The problems for directorial venture of Chandra Prakash Dwivedi found their way after the trailer leaked online about 15 days ago. The video stars Sunny Deol, Ravi Kishan, Sakshi Tanwar and other star cast speaking anything freely. As per the reports, a particular scene in the film seriously offended religious sentiments when one man speaks several abusive words in the garb of Lord Shiva.
Some time ago, actor Ravi Kishan said that the trailer, which was leaked online was uncensored. He is playing an important character in the movie. In one scene, the person imitating Lord Shiva uses many abusive words which could have been shot in a different manner.
The story of Mohalla Assi is based on the book Kashi Ka Assi written by Dr. Kashinath Singh. This film clearly depicts the real scenario prevailing at the Assi Ghat in Varansi. It portrays people who smoke and those who are involved in some or other unspeakable stuff.
The presence of Sunny Deol in the lead role has already resulted in registering of numerous FIRs against himself and the director too. He plays the character of a Sanskrit teacher in it. Today, on 30th June, the Bajrang Dal demanded to ban the film nationwide.
Thus, as a result the court has ordered movie’s director, producer and CBFC to put stay on the release of Mohalla Assi from releasing on 3rd July 2015 till further orders.
