Salman Khan Hit and Run Case: Bombay HC Adjourns Appeal To July 20 To Submit Documents

The hearing of the famous Hit and Run case is once again has been adjourned by July 20. Till then, the Bombay High Court has ordered its registry to submit the translated copies of the documents. These are asked by the actor Salman Khan in his appeal against the decision by a sessions court.

These some of the important documents are in the native dialect. Thus, the actor’s lawyer Amit Desai has requested the English translated version of these documents. Further proceedings will be held after it.

Amit has also asked for the missing documents by submitting an application giving the list for the same. He also wanted to know if they are required ones for the decision to be declared or not. If they are considered as important, then the required authorities must hand over to him for studying.

On the request of Salman and his lawyer, Justice AR Joshi has asked Public Prosecutor SS Shinde and the investigating officer to scrutinize that list and check whether the important documents are missing or not. If found missing, then they have to supply the same before 20th July.

Salman Khan’s lawyer requested in court to adjourn the hearing for two weeks on the account that he would busy on another case in Jodhpur on 20th July. But the High Court refused this demand and thus adjourned the session for a week.

The 49-years-old superstar actor Salman was absent on the hearing, once again. He didn’t come because of being on bail. His sister, Alvira, who appears for every hearing was also absent.

Salman Khan was found guilty by a sessions court in this case and therefore, on May 6, he was awarded with a 5 year sentence, citing various reasons / crimes which includes, including ‘culpable homicide not amounting to murder’.

In the 2002 Hit and Run case, a man was killed while four others who were sleeping were injured badly by the actor’s Toyota Land Cruiser. Those people were sleeping in night on the footpath outside a bakery in Bandra. This misshaping took place on 28th September 2002.

The actor pleaded in the High Court, after the decision of the trial court, that he has been convicted wrongly in the case. The Bombay High Court ordered stay on the execution of the 5-year sentence decided for Salman. With the order of stay, the HC gave him bail.
