Kapoor Family Celebrates ‘Dada Saheb Phalke Award’ For Shashi Kapoor

[dropcap type=”3″]B[/dropcap]ollywood movie zealots can never forget the songs – Bekhudi Me Sanam, Aye Meri Zohra Zabeen and the movies which seemed impossible without the acting of Shashi Kapoor. The ace personality of the Bollywood Film Industry ever since the 80s – Shashi has been honored with the prestigious award of Dada Saheb Phalke Award on May 10th, 2015.

The entire Kapoor family gathered at the event including other veteran celebrities Shashi’s friends – Amitabh Bachchan, Rekha, Shabana Azmi and others. The crowd also seen nephew Rishi and grandnephew Ranbir.

Arun Jaitley, union minister of Information & Broadcasting Department of India, took the responsibility to honor Shashi Kapoor with the award at the Prithvi Theater in Mumbai.

Usually, the ‘Dada Saheb Phalke Award’ is presented to the candidates in Delhi. Due to his health illness, Shashi could not reach Delhi on May 3rd (the date, when Shashi had to be honored).

Amitabh Bachchan revived the memories he spent with Shashi filming movies like ‘Deewar’, ‘Kala Patthar’, ‘Trishul’ and ‘Kabhi Kabhie’. He said, “Prithvi Theater is a wonderful place to honor him. I had the privilege to work with him in films… he is a very caring, compassionate, generous person…. keep going.”

Known as ‘queen’ of her time, Shabana Azmi said, “Honoring Shashi Kapoor means we are honoring ourselves. He is our treasure. He is the first actor who entered Hollywood many years ago. He is a great actor.

Individuals from the Kapoor family had attended the great moment. Krishna Raj Kapoor, Neela Devi, Netu Kapoor, Babita, Kunal Kapoor and Sanjana Kapoor, to name a few. The veteran actor – Shashi Kapoor friends like Waheeda Rehman, Hema Malini, Asha parekh and Zeenat Aman also accompanied him.

Kapoor appeared in Bollywood first as a child entertainer, then gave blockbusters after blockbusters. His significant films were ‘Aag’, ‘Awaara, ‘Samadhi’, ‘Dharamputra’, ‘Jab Jab Phool Khile’, ‘Trishul’ ‘Junoon’, ‘Utsav’ ‘New Delhi Times’ and others.
