Shashi Kapoor Honored With Dada Saheb Phalke Award In Mumbai

The great renowned legendary actor Shashi Kapoor is honored with the prestigious Dada Saheb Phalke Award on Sunday. His family had told Information and Broadcasting Ministry that due to health reasons Kapoor, it will be difficult to come to Delhi for the sake of the award ceremony.

Sources confirmed that Arjun Jaitley, Minster of Information and Broadcasting department and Rajyavardhan Rathore, will be coming to Mumbai to present his honor. But due to the bad health, the family and actor could make it to Delhi. The 46th recipient of the Dada Saheb Phalke Award received a standing ovation even after his absence.

A video, carrying all the achievements and accomplishments of Shashi Kapoor, was published at the award function. It was presented as an introduction to the great former actor, and was given the award after that in the presence of B-Town veteran celebrities.

Shashi Kapoor, 77 years old, reportedly is in the wheelchair and suffering from kidney problems. His father Prithviraj Kapoor and older brother Raj Kapoor, has been awarded the Dada Saheb Phalke Award. Previously, such a decision was taken in 2013 when the then Information and Broadcasting Minister Manish Tewari went to Mumbai to give the Dada Shaeb Phalke Award to the veteran actor Praan.

Shashi Kapoor acted in over a hundred films starring as a lead character. Some of his greatest and evergreen movies are ‘Namak Halal’, ‘Dewaar’ and ‘Kabhi Kabhi’ which still mesmerizes after watching.

Amitabh Bachcha, a good friend of Shashi Kapoor, and so-called Bollywood Megastar have received the Dada Saheb Phale Award in April 2015 by the president of India – Pranab Mukherjee. Both actors aged the same. However, Shashi’s going through critical health situations, whereas Amit is living a healthy life.
